Understand the map: Agencies may report the same earthquake with different estimates. Report counts include these overlaps. Wind, cloud cover and surface currents are model forecasts sampled on a 7.5° grid; they do not describe local conditions at every point. Satellite overlays are dated observations. This is an educational viewer, not an early-warning system. Official tsunami guidance ↗

Coordinates and depth are agency estimates. Countries are approximated from low-resolution land polygons; offshore reports retain their original place descriptions. The USGS tsunami-product flag indicates associated tsunami information, not a current warning. Missing values remain unknown.

Sources and scientific resources

Five feeds supply the plotted seismic reports. The directory includes regional portals and the official FDSN registry of catalog, station and waveform services. Other directory entries are links to their providers. Square map pins mark approximate regional coverage centers, not stations or earthquake epicenters.

Attribution and interpretation

Earthquake reports: USGS, EMSC Seismic Portal, GFZ GEOFON, INGV and GeoNet. EMSC and INGV data: CC BY 4.0; see provider terms for the other feeds. Model data: Open-Meteo, CC BY 4.0, serving NOAA GFS weather and Météo-France marine forecasts. Free Open-Meteo service is limited to noncommercial use within its published request limits. Global samples are shared and cached for six hours; seismic checks have a five-minute cooldown. Surface vectors show current patterns and do not reconstruct deep ocean circulation or a particle trajectory.

Cloud information distinguishes modeled percentage cover from daily MODIS Aqua cloud fraction and VIIRS NOAA-20 true-color imagery supplied by NASA GIBS. VIIRS NOAA-20 true-color tiles load from NASA by default; choose Off to disable satellite imagery. Optional street tiles contact OpenStreetMap. Default boundaries are Natural Earth public-domain data via world-atlas. Leaflet is BSD-2-Clause; license. Resource metadata was collected from the FDSN registry; provider services may have additional conditions and limits.

Cumulative visitor map

20Site visitors
Distinct daily visits, cumulative

Counting since 2026-10-10 (UTC). As on To the Infinity, one IP address counts once per UTC day; this is not a count of registered accounts or unique people across all time. Shared networks and automated traffic can affect totals.

20 geolocated cumulative daily visits · 0 locations meet the public threshold

Cumulative location countYour approximate current location

The map will gain public markers when locations reach three cumulative daily visits. No sample or historical visits have been added.

Your approximate current location: Columbus, US. This blue marker is shown only in your response.

Locations are approximate IP-derived city/region estimates, never GPS. Public markers require at least three cumulative daily visits. Earth Live stores aggregate locations and short-lived keyed daily identifiers outside the public site, not raw IP addresses. Map boundaries are for orientation, not a statement of jurisdiction.
